Pure nature – the Hotel & Restaurant Pöttjerkrug is located in the immediate vicinity of the nature reserve „Duinger Seen“. In our restaurant you will enjoy mainly natural and above all fresh products.
Friedrich Sürig (senior) founded the Pöttjerkrug as early as 1949 and still runs it today. Chef Ingo Sürig took over the reins in 1995.
Since 1977, a hotel has been attached to the traditional Pöttjerkrug, which has been classified with three stars by Dehoga.
In addition, the Sürig family is entrusted with the catering of the sports centre. Here, parties of up to 1000 guests are possible.
In the main building at Sohnreystrasse 1, the combination of rustic restaurant, excursion pub and upscale gastronomy is what makes the Pöttjerkrug so special. As a base for extensive hikes in the landscape conservation area and as one of the first addresses in the region, the Pöttjerkrug is indispensable.
Sleep peacefully, start the day relaxed
Our hotel is quietly situated on the outskirts of the village and close to the forest. By car you can reach the Bruchsee with its small bathing beach in 3 minutes (2.5km), in the centre of the village you can reach the Duinger Hallenband with its popular Pottland sauna.
Our 6 hotel rooms (3 single / 3 double) are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, telephone, TV, sitting area, radio and internet/WLAN. Half of the rooms also have a balcony or terrace.
In the house you will find our dining room with rich breakfast buffet, the a la carte restaurant (German, regional and international cuisine; children’s menus; half board/half board), a conference room and, of course, parking spaces directly in front of the door. A children’s high chair is available for small guests.
Spend your leisure time on one of the numerous forest hiking trails, in the indoor swimming pool with Pottland sauna, on our tennis court or the bowling alley. Small guests are invited to play at the adventure playground in Wallensen.

In our à la carte restaurant we offer you a good selection of „home-style“ and „upscale“ cuisine. Enjoy your favourite dish in a friendly atmosphere.
Whether alone, as a couple or with the family, we like to cook (and cook well) for you and the people who are important to you.
For family celebrations, in addition to our hall (120 people), you can also use our club room (40 people) and the guest parlour (30 people).

Hiking, cycling, motorcycling – experience nature
Around our house, the Duingen lake district is waiting to be explored by you. Take a walk along the forest paths or hike on the Ith-Hils-Weg, enjoy the sun on the beach of the Bruchsee or set sail on a pedal boat. In the new panorama sauna of the Duingen indoor swimming pool, you have a great view over the town and can unwind. And you can discover all kinds of interesting facts about the „Pottland“ in the Duingen pottery museum.
In Alfeld (12 km) you can visit the UNESCO World Heritage Fagus factory (the original building of modern industrial architecture was designed by Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius in 1911). In Nordstemmen, the fairytale castle Marienburg (25km) awaits you, where various TV films have been shot. In Hildesheim (35km) you will find St. Michael’s, one of the most beautiful early Romanesque churches in Germany, and the 1000-year-old rose bush in the cathedral (both are also UNESCO World Heritage Sites).
In the south, the PS.SPEICHER in Einbeck (32km) invites you to dream and reminisce. The exhibition features over 200 classic cars and (motor)bikes from days gone by. Regular special exhibitions and events provide additional variety. The Corvey Monastery (40km) is another UNESCO World Heritage Site nearby, and the UNESCO World Heritage RAMMELSBERG ore mine 70km away completes the circle.
Little adventurers become adventurers in a knight’s castle at the Saalepark adventure playground in Wallensen (8km) or explore the robber Lippoldshöhle near Brunkensen (6.5km) with a torch. At Hannover Adventure Zoo (55km) you can travel around the world in one day. More than 2000 animal species in impressive enclosures, a „boat trip on the Zambezi“, shows and commented feedings can be experienced as well as the large playground on „Meyers Hof“.
In summer, the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival (36km) invites visitors to theatre, music and musicals. In 2023, Bad Gandersheim will host the Lower Saxony State Garden Show.
Our hotel is particularly well suited as a starting point for hiking, cycling tours or for trade fair visitors. The Hannover exhibition grounds (e.g. Hannover Messe, Agritechnica, EuroTier, IAA Commercial Vehicles, Interschutz, Domotext, Ligna) can be reached by car in 45 minutes.
Hannover International Airport (HAJ) can be reached in one hour,
the railway stations Alfeld and Elze in 15 minutes each.
With its location in Duingen, the Hotel Pöttjerkrug borders not only on the Duingen lake district, but also and above all on the tourist regions of Leinebergland and Weserbergland.
These regions invite you to go hiking and experience nature. There are lakes, springs, caves, the Weser with its passenger service and several UNESCO World Heritage Sites to discover.
